Meredy and I were assigned to Afterglow, one of Asilomar's newer residence halls. The rooms are just like contemporary motel accommodations; our room had a fireplace and a balcony.

This is the view looking south from our second-floor balcony, and

this is the view to the east. If you look very carefully between the trees in the center of the picture, you can see the ears of a fawn sticking up out of the grass.

No? Okay, look closer. A mother deer and her two fawns had chosen this location as their daytime bedding spot.
