I put up this rather dull beach shot because I was surprised at the number of people there on a foggy day. But there they were—picnicking, wading, building sand castles, flying kites, and the whole works, and right on the horizon are two charter fishing boats.

Where there's a wave—even if not much of a wave—there's a surfer. These guys were very much surf babies.

The girl in the middle of this picture must have been cold—the average water temperature is about 56°, as I recall. From the look of the surf and the level of the water, it must have been pretty near full high tide, way too much water to take pictures in the tide pools in the rocks on the point.

So, it was back up the boardwalk to the Asilomar grounds. The building on the left is Chapel; the roof you can barely see to the right is the dining hall. And yes, that is a bit of blue sky showing through. It didn't last long, though.
