Question from GF: You have served on the AMC in the past. What do you see as your "unfinished business" that you would like to tackle if elected?

Answer:

Since becoming active in Mensa, I have tried to keep my eye on the future and what I feel is beneficial to the organization. I have served on the AMC in numerous capacities (2nd Vice-Chairman, RVC7, InterLoc Editor, IBD member, and National Hearings Committee member), been a key player in moving the National Office from New York to Texas, and I have seen many changes in the way our organization is run. Because I have kept my fingers in many pies over my years of service, I cannot honestly think of any "unfinished business" as you put it. I do, however, have some areas of concern that I feel need to be visited and discussed; in particular, our National Hearings process and apparent conflicts with our bylaws. These seem to be hot topics lately and being a member of the most recent National Hearings, I feel I have a good handle on the problems and conflicts that exist in the system. There also appears to be some discrepancy in the ASIEs and our Bylaws that need to be reviewed carefully. Closer to home (I am running for RVC of the Heartland Region), I would like to continue the work of Mr. Burnham and bring the members of our region closer together. There are only 13 groups spread over a very wide area and part of my job as RVC will be to try to connect our members, make them a part of this organization and give them a say in the way it is run. We need to increase our membership in this region (there are approximately 2,000 members in region 7) and provide more and varied opportunities for social interaction. Lofty goals I know, but goals I believe can be reached and need to be.
